 better spaces and places — introductory training
DESCRIPTION:Introductory Training - Learn the CoDesign approach to creating
  amazing spaces and places.\n\nCoDesign will work with a select group of p
 eople to undertake induction and training in CoDesign methodologies and pr
 actice.CoDesign will draw from their experience of community development\,
  Pop-Ups\, rapid urban revitalisation\, participatory design and working w
 ith \"hard-to-reach\" groups in this 3 hour workshop.\n\nThe CoDesign appr
 oach is award-winning\, demonstrably achieves better outcomes in shorter t
 ime\, and unique. This is a rare opportunity for professionals in the Midw
 est to learn:\n\nWhy use a CoDesign approach and what's different\,Case st
 udies of CoDesign in action\, and the outcomes from Australia\, Asia\, cit
 ies and regional areas\,What specific tools\, techniques and methods are u
 sed in different contexts\,How to apply this to open space projects curren
 tly underway or in planning\, that workshop participants want to discuss f
 rom their own experience.Preparation to put skills into practice on the 16
 th and 17th August.The skills\, knowledge and experience gained will be in
 valuable for anyone working in the creation of spaces or places or environ
 ments where there are multiple stakeholders\, interests and oppportunities
 . These methods could be applied to public spaces\, multi-day events/festi
 vals\, property developments\, urban environments\, town centres\, neighbo
 urhoods scale work\, and landscape and architectural projects. This would 
 benefit:\n\nCommunity development professionals\,Architects\, landscape ar
 chitects\,Planners\, Town Planners\, Parks managers\,Cultural managers\, A
 rts practitioners\, artists\,Property developers\, landholders\,Shopping c
 entre or precinct managers\,Retailers\, Market operators\,Facilitators.Par
 ticipants in the training are then able to practice their skills as part o
 f two \"live\" workshops on the 16th and 17th August. Participants would a
 ssist CoDesign with running the workshop\, while also reinforcing their le
 arning in a practical context\n\n\"CoDesign focuses on participatory appro
 aches urban revitalisation that generate high social impact and make neigh
 bourhood improvement faster\, more efficient\, and more fun. Projects typi
 cally include pop up spaces\, renewal of under-utilised spaces and communi
 ty capacity building\, as well as a host of built community and landscape 
 infrastructure projects. Our approach has been hugely successful in encour
 aging communities and stakeholders build the skills and confidence they ne
 ed to create change\, leading to healthier\, safer and more inclusive plac
